Thursday Soccer at San Buenaventura (12-9-10)
by Karen Dunn | December 17, 2010
This afternoon, Anne and Paul (Nat's parents) came to watch my boys play soccer at San Buenaventura and then had dinner with us.
Every Thursday after school, Rovin comes up to San Buenaventura with a group of kids to play soccer with my older boys. Natalia, the owner of our place, is graciously letting them use the soccer field that is here. They even mowed it for us. The field has two goals, but no nets.
Warming up
Stretching
Push-up time
Sit-up time
Lining up to practice shots on goal
Jared practicing his shot on goal.
I was out taking pictures of the kids playing soccer. Justin was at home with Lesvia and Grandpa Dunn. Justin ran all the way out to the field to tell me he had to go poop (Justin is 4 years old, just in case you were wondering). I guess he didn't think Grandpa Dunn or Lesvia could help him with that :-). While he was there, we convinced him to take one shot at the goal.
Here are a few pictures of Rovin and the kids after practice. They are waiting for their pickup truck.

The first time Rovin came up, Rovin and 11 kids rode up in one tuk-tuk. I wish I could have seen this myself and I wish I had a picture of it. The next week, they arrived in the back of a police pick-up truck. Tonight, Rovin and the kids were getting picked up by another pick-up truck. I wanted to get a picture of all of them in the back of the truck, but the truck was late and we need to eat dinner. Tonight, I counted 24 children plus Rovin. Next Thursday, I hope to get a picture of all the kids with Rovin in the back of a pick-up truck.
A few kids were picked up by a parent or relative. You see kids on motorcycles all the time here. So much for helmets and kid car seats!
