Boat Trip to Santa Catarina & San Pedro - November 21, 2010

by Karen Dunn | November 29, 2010

Today, we took Michele, Frankie and Luke on a boat trip to two towns on the lake, Santa Catarina and San Pedro.

Pictures from the boat.

San Jorge - the town next to us where our tutors live.  They now have to come by boat because the road is closed.

This is where the river (near the boys' school) meets the lake.
Arriving in Santa Catarina:
We first visited Santa Catarina.  Many of the products found in Panajachel are made here in Santa Catarina.  When you get off the boat and walk into town, there are women along the path weaving and selling their products.

This family asked if they could take a picture with our kids.  Their daughter wasn't too excited about the idea.

We then went to San Pedro for lunch at El Fondeadero.

See the sleeping man's face in the mountains behind the boys?

We arrived back at the hotel around 3:30.  That is our boat in the picture.

Wojtek arrived shortly after we returned.  We were hoping he was going to be able to go on the boat trip with us, but he missed his plane the day before.  The lines at that airport in Syracuse were out the door and the airport made no exceptions for the people who were going to miss their flights.  We were happy he made it today!
