The Dunns

140. Trip to Xocomil (4-3-11)

by Karen Dunn | April 9, 2011

Today, we went to Xocomil, a water park, with Abel and his family.  Xocomil is about a three hour drive from Panajachel.

We left our place around 5:30 am.  We got to see the beautiful sunrise.  These pictures don't do it justice.

We made several stops on the way there.  First, we stopped to check out the mysterious magnetic hill, where our car rolled up the hill, as well as a bottle of water.  Check out these videos.

Then we stopped to get mangos for b-fast.  After that, we stopped to go to the bathroom and get chicken for b-fast at Pollo Campero.  And finally, we stopped to buy two parrots.  I thought the noise I was hearing was from a toy from a kids meal :-) from Pollo Campero.  I didn't realized there were parrots in the car we were leaving Xocomil.  I was in the front seat so I didn't get car sick and I didn't want to look back.

Abel, Melanie, Nat and Jared having a snack at Xocomil.  It was very similar to Enchanted Forest in the Adirondacks, but MUCH warmer :-).  I really liked not freezing my butt off while waiting in line.

The sky was beautiful as we were leaving the park.  Again, it is hard to capture the beauty with my camera.
 Walking back to the car.
Driving through Xela on our way home.  Xela is the second biggest city in Guatemala.  It is about an hour and a half from Pana.  We stopped at the big mall for clothes for Gael and dinner.
