116. Environmental Week Presentations (2-24-11)

by Karen Dunn | March 29, 2011

This week was Environmental Week at LIFE School.  Justin went to the zoo in Guatemala City with the school.  Justin was so excited about going to the zoo, we couldn't say no.  I must say, I was very happy when he arrived home safely at 6:30 at night!  Jared and Ryan spent the day in Panajachel with their cousins.

Justin studied trees and animals.  Ryan studied medicinal plants and went on a field trip to Maya Traditions medicinal garden.  Jared studied soy farming in Guatemala and visited a soy farm in Solola.

This morning they all gave presentations on what they learned during the week.

We walked into town for the presentations at the Gran Hotel.  Here are Cullen and Lucy under the Panajachel sign.

The kids all walked over to the Gran Hotel from LIFE School.

This morning while my boys were giving their Environmental Week presentations, our friends and relatives were having a great time in Guatemala City at Hotel Barcelo.

After the swim they said their goodbyes.  Kelly and Dave headed to the airport and Michele, Lori and the boys headed to Panajachel.  It was a good thing Kelly and Dave didn't start their trip this morning from Pana at 6am.  The protests did happen and they would have missed their flight, but on top of that, they spent 3 hours waiting on the tarmac before take-off.  This caused them to miss their connection in Atlanta.  They didn't get to their hotel room in Atlanta until approximately 10pm and they had to get up bright and early to get their plane to Syracuse.

Check out the boxes of vaccines sitting in the sun and the labels on the boxes.

Lori and Michele arrived in Pana around 4pm, in time for the boys to play a little soccer.
