114. Day in Santiago (2-23-11)

by Karen Dunn | March 29, 2011

Today, we took everyone to Santiago.  I took them on my usual tour - boat ride across the lake, up the main street, a visit to the central park, the church, the weavers, and then back down the main street.

View from San Buenaventura.

 Our boat arriving.
Waiting to get on the boat.

 All aboard!

 The ride over to Santiago.

We had to stop for gas and noticed this sign.  I love that they have to put up a sign saying you can't pee or poop here!
 Arriving in Santiago.
Figuring out how we are going to manage the wants of 15 different people.
The shopping begins up the main street.
Aunt Susie and Anne (Nat's mom)
 The central park in Santiago.

I love seeing all the local men hanging out in the park.

I took them to see the men weaving using the foot loom.

Today we went to El Pescador for lunch because it was the easy thing to do.  Note to self - never order the chicken sandwich again.  It was served on gross white toast.  Not a fan!

Nat's Aunt Connie and Uncle John in the boat going home.
I think it was a successful trip to Santiago.  Our crew in the boat on the way home.

Views of San Buenaventura from the water.
 Check out the mud slide.
Grandma and Aunt Kate entertaining Maggie, while Kelly and Dave are getting ready to leave :-(.  They were supposed to leave tomorrow, however, we got a call from our driver telling us that there may be protests on the road tomorrow morning and they may miss their plane.  They didn't want to take any chances, so they are leaving today.
